speaking of which.. are baskets worth anything as scrap? I don't know what to do with a few non brand name baskets that aren't worth reconing

But these have magnets attached. are they easy to separate cleanly?
I assume the magnets are worthless

On at least one of those the magnet can be removed by undoing four bolts, after removing the soft part. The basket is the only part with real worth, the magnet may be very expensive to actually have manufactured but once you're done with it it's just particularly hard to extract iron and sand with some steel glued to it. However, the scrap value of these is significantly less than their value to you if you wanted to put them in a legacy cabinet.

Clean aluminum is almost $1 per pound right now. So there ya go.

On a related note, my local scrap dealer is paying over $1/lb. for insulated copper wire.

I brought them about 50 lbs. of gash audio and power cables that I'd accumulated over the years, and finally decided I would never use, and walked away with $56! I was blown away. I figured I'd do well to see $10 or $20.

A few years back My wife and I inherited her grandfathers house. When we cleaned it out he had dozens upon dozens of brass figurines and candelabras. Some small, some very large. We tried garage selling them, but no one was interested. We finally took it all to the recycler and were shocked when we received over 300 bucks for it all. It seems that clean brass was in demand and we had a truckload of it!
