Louder vocals have more overtones (distortion), wind instruments get more complex when played louder, and car radios clip all the time.Of course distortion alone will not make quiet loud. There are many bass helpers that generate overtones up in the higher frequency regions where we hear better so less sounds like more.Maybe you can get them all on ear buds.JR
