I've noticed over the weekend one of my HK audio Deacon tops seems to have an intermittent tweeter. Could anyone give me an insight into possible causes please?

Re: Intermittent Compression Driver

Hello

I would first take the cabinet and check, that intermittence is still there by playing music through it for some time.

If "YES" - then open it and check all obvious connectors.

Relisten...

If the problem persists - swap the driver - you do have more than one speaker ...

If the problem stays in the cabinet, it is the amplifier - if it moves to next cabinet, it is the driver.

Then study the driver or the amp - cold solder joints etc...

If the amp has level controls for highs and you never adjusted them, it might well be time to tweak the hell out of them - then reset them to your liking. - this might be good before opening the cab ...

Some intermittent problems have taken years to be solved - so be patient and remember what you have done

Good luck

Re: Intermittent Compression Driver

I could be the driver itself-the wire going to it, the crossover etc.

As Timo suggested-swap the driver see if the problem follows or stays with the cabinet.

Beat-bang-bump anything in the cabinet that would fall into the "electrical" category and try to narrow it down that way.

Just because the driver is not making sound does not mean it is the driver-maybe the signal is not getting to the driver.
