It's amazing what they don't show on TV

Antiphonal playing is one of the hardest things to do... play your part while watching the conductor, listening to yourself while ignoring ALL the ensemble sounds.... then they play together.... The bands gave a great performance.

Awesome clip, thanks for the link.

Was listening to NPR Sunday AM as ceremonies were broadcast. The female announcer made mention that there would "now be a moment of silence" for those lost on 9/11 and proceeded to give commentary the entire time.

"And now, here's a moment of silence. Yes - here it is - some silence to remember the fallen. What a tragedy - our nation will never be the same. I'm so grateful for all those that serve our country, and it's just great that we remember them in this way - moments of silence are so reverent, and it's the least we can do to honor them..."

Yep- I've heard commentary like that. Thankfully there's usually a mute button or power switch.

I was running sound for a community choir and orchestra on Sunday. We were in Marion Square which is where the original Citadel grounds used to be located.

Before everything kicked off, the Mayor asked for a moment of silence. During that time, the wind stopped blowing, the birds stopped chirping and even the kiddies were silent.

You could have heard a pin drop in a crowd of about 3000. Very poignant and touching moment.

God Bless America and God Bless our Troops!!
