Jane's Addiction drum mics at Terminal 5; 2012

I love watching Palladia and I caught the Janes Addiction at Terminal 5 NYC on TV today; I was able to narrow it down to their July date. Anyways, I was wondering what Tom mics did the use? It looks as it is a Shure Beta 98 style with a different mount, these are long enough to mount to the bottom of the rack toms while reaching the top.

This is the best picture I could find:

I have considered changing from my current preferred tom mics to the earthworks. Still considering.... the pricetag has so far held me at bay (they're about $650/each, rather expensive for a tom mic)

This from a video? Who knows, the tracks may have been replaced with triggered samples in post production or other tomfoolery involved. I'd have to hear them live and compare to mics I know already before making a judgment.

My boss and I don't see how $650 tom tom mics will make the company money. Is there something unique going on in DelMarVa that the rest of us should know about?

I'll take a better drummer over better drum mics any day.

I totally agree Tim. The reason I have not pulled the trigger is that it would be a vanity project, not economically sensible. Keep in mind, I am mentally approaching this as a drummer looking for mics for my personal collection, not as SR guy. There have been various shootouts and I have heard acts come through with these, they did not disappoint. However, you are correct, samples are tending to be very widespread in modern production (I use them myself), so the usefulness of such mics is further relegated to "purist" gigs. My Opus88's are staying put.
