Re: JBL Vertec 4886/4883 listening test TJ, My partner and I were in the same boat as you as we have JFLs which were great for most gigs but just scalable enough. Last winter, we made a few hours drive to company which had RCF NX-L23A boxes and gave them a listen as we were debating the 4886s as well as 730s before. After listening to them 1 or 2 on sticks, 3/side ground stacked, and 4/side (up to 8/side as a possibility) we were blown away with the sound quality VS price VS scalability the RCFs had and ended up buying 12. We love the fact that they are powered with OEM PowerSoft amps and DSP as well. We also kept our TH-115s for subs but bought new power for them I-TECHs in which 1 IT-8000 powers/processes 4 TH-115s (8 ohm versions) perfectly). We are very happy with our purchase as we were able to sell our JFLs, DSP, amplification for the rig, and almost broke even with the new rig.
