Have JBL published user manuals for the VTX series?

I tried looking in their technical library, but couldn't find any. I'm heading out with a rig in two months time and would like to learn the system first.
I do have some experience with the 4886, 4883, S28 and V-racks, so I kinda know what to expect in terms of amps, cabling and network setup.

We had a VTX rig come through our arena. I was head electrician that day and didn't have a chance to watch it go up. The rigging is different from the VerTec. I'm told it's easier to assemble/fly from carts than VerTec. Other than the mechanical differences it appears to be consistent with VerTec.

What is your role in this? If you're FOH mixer/stage right PA guy, the system tech should have amps/cabling/networking all done for you. If your vendor is really sharp, they'll send a computer with JBL's LAC II coverage prediction software and Performance Manager with V-Racks.

There is no longer a public beta of Performance Manager, so I don't think there is a free way to play with it... but there are video tutorials on the HiQNet site (and Youtube, IIRC). Performance Manager integrates with LAC II and the V-Racks, it's all very powerful. Crown has the V-Rack Operation Manual available and it contains some example setups that include VTX.

I was hoping to find an "Array Application Manual" http://www.jblpro.com/BackOffice/ProductAttachments/VERTEC_APP_MANUAL.PDF for VTX, but no such luck.

Adam Robinson has mixed on VTX and I'd presume he's familiar with the mechanics, too. Perhaps he can help out, and if nothing else you can contact Paul Bauman at JBL.

Re: JBL VTX User manual

The front mechanics are different, but if you know Vertec, it won't be an issue.

The rear mechanics are almost identical to Vertec, but with an added stopper that stops the angle from moving past the number you've chosen.

Re: JBL VTX User manual

I'll be the system tech.

I've done several tech jobs for the same company with their 4886 system, so I know that pretty good. They bought VTX last year but the guy who know the system isn't working for them anymore, so I got asked if I could get up to speed on the VTX and do a series of shows in late april/early may.
