The Department of Media and Technology Support Services (MTSS) at The College of New Jersey is looking for a AV Technology Specialist to join their team. MTSS is active throughout the TCNJ community. MTSS provides:
  • Classroom, conference room technology management, service, real-time support.
  • Consultation, design, programming, installation, maintenance and support for display, conferencing and capture technology-related projects and initiatives.
  • Videoconferencing (VC) coordination and technical assistance, endpoint and VC room management.
  • Digital signage end point technology design, consult, install, maintenance and support.
  • Tech support and av/computer equipment for event-related staging, rentals and loans, including academic, administrative and public events.
The AV Technology Specialist works as an integral member in Media & Technology Support Services. They will primarily ensure equipment is setup and/or installed according to designated event layouts and or construction drawings for various assigned projects around the campus. They will also execute the required work to complete installation and commissioning of all assigned projects, as well as maintaining all documentation regarding projects including changes, additions, deletions and as-builts. Additionally the AV Technology Specialist will work in coordination with Project Managers, Engineering, material and other service functions to ensure timely completion for multiple jobs/projects. Other job functions include but are not limited to:
  • Providing technical service to systems, installed and or live events and acting as an official representative in meetings with the customer and or contractor.
  • Training and supervising the activities of the installation & event technicians to optimize the utilization of available resources.
  • Testing and resolving technical equipment issues in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for the audio visual setup and operation of small to large scale audiovisual systems with a focus on audio, video, computer and lighting for live events.
  • Responsible scheduling event technicians based on events.
  • Ensuring a well executed event through the accurate and timely setup, operation and breakdown of audiovisual equipment as listed in the technical qualifications section.
Requirements
  • Proficiency with video presentation switchers, scalers, video streaming, video cameras, resolutions, aspect ratios, etc.
  • Ability to create, read, and edit contracts, schedules, budgets, A/V drawing packages, etc.
  • Experience with digital audio consoles, multiple wireless microphones, DSP, speaker arrays, multi channel mixing, etc. Experienced with video systems, lighting equipment, computers, device control systems
  • Experience in live event production, planning and scheduling necessary resources
  • 3 Years of Audio Visual Project Management
  • 5+ years of live event audio visual production experience
  • Proficient in MS Windows, MS Office, Mac OS
Preferred
  • Video production skills such as live event video and audio editing, multi camera video recordings are desirable
  • CTS certification preferred

This position is a classified position and carries the state title Professional Services Specialist 3C, Range 21. It is aligned with the Communications Workers of America (CWA) bargaining unit.. Permanent appointment to this position is contingent upon the successful completion of a 4-month probationary period to assess the ability to perform the essential functions of the position.
