Some weeks ago one of my old regular venues called me in need of help. Both HF drivers in their Turbo Tq400sp had finally, after 10 years of continuous power-on and 4-5 gigs a week, given up and gone on vacation. It's a rather small venue, capacity is 150-160 patrons, and their pa is those 440s and two 425sp subwoofers.

I rented them two of my Danley SH-50s, went down there and got them up in the air (barely); it was a tight fit using the same fly points as before. Threw a quick Lr24 crossover between subs and sh-50s, sat a delay time and left. Boss called me next day and said it sounded really good, and he wanted to rent them for some time. No problem.

Went back there last night to do a show because their new regular guy couldn't make it. Now, I've probably done about 350-400 gigs in that venue on their old PA, but this was something completely different. I've never used my sh-50s in such a small venue, and I got to say that the sound quality and "throw" they are able to achieve in a small venue is amazing. Never heard anything similar to sh-50s in terms of pure sound quality in a difficult environment, I found myself tweaking tiny details on a vocal reverb, and it was audible, couldn't hear that before on their old pa.

Thank you DSL for making my life easier :)

I have been saying this for years, and why I don't use anything else anymore-and I used to build my own with "suggestions" from Tom before he developed the Unity and Synergy designs.

I recently hung out at a gig in the same venue I do a lot of work in, and the difference to me was palpable-and I built the other loudspeakers being used!

Best regards,

John
