Of course, the colored rings cannot be used in combinations of colors like the colored electrician's tape, so I've adopted a color code scheme where I use the more subdued colors for those lengths that are likely to be the most visible on stage. I rely heavily on drop snakes, so I tend to use a lot of 15ft. (black ringed) and 25ft. (brown ringed) mic lines. 40ft. (blue ringed) mic lines is my next most common length. My remaining mic/patch lines are 10ft. (violet ringed) and 100ft. (grey ringed). I have my color code chart printed (in big letters) and posted on the underside of the lids of the mic cable cases.</span></span></p><p><span style="color: #222222"><span style="font-family: 'Verdana'"></span></span></p><p><span style="color: #222222"><span style="font-family: 'Verdana'">Another length management system I've seen is to dispense with color coding length... instead, the mic cables are in multiples of... oh... approx. 12 1/2ft. as I recall: 12 1/2ft., 25ft., 50ft., 100ft., where-in it's fairly easy to distinguish the 4 different lengths of cables based solely on the relative differences in the bulk of the coils.</span></span></p></blockquote><p></p>
