Linking two Si Expressions for FOH and Monitors?

Hello all!

Just wondering if it's possible to link two Si Expression consoles to use one for the FOH, and the other for a monitor console, using any of there digital connections? I've got a string of shows coming up, and would rather leave my split snake at home if possible. I've tried to google search it, but have come up short.

Any help would be appreciated!

Yes you can do it.
I only have one Soundcraft, so I haven't done it.
Read up on D.O.G.S.
Tells how they share premps etc

Thanks for the reply Steve.

I understand how the D.O.G.S. work and their purpose, I'm just un-aware at how to physically connect the two consoles. Do I use a CAT5 cable? Will I require to install a new card, or can i use the HiQnet port? Once the connection is made and the dogs are on, what's next in terms of routing, etc?

The HiQnet port is for telemetry and control only. It does not pass audio.

I do this with Si Performers (Expressions are the same) and Mini Stageboxes and it works well with a few caveats:

You need a MADI expansion card in each desk.
CAT5 or 6 crossover cable between the desks.
On the "main" desk (the one where the inputs will be physically plugged in), assign the inputs as you normally would.
On the main desk, assign the Direct Out for each input to a MADI channel.
On the main desk, turn on D.O.G.S. (FYI - this does not appear to be saved when you save or export a show file so you need to remember to check it every time you power up.)
On the other desk assign the inputs to the corresponding MADI channels.

The main desk will have control of the input preamps and D.O.G.S will stabilize the outputs to the other desk - as a preamp on the main desk is changed, D.O.G.S. ensures that the output remains the same.

Have fun!
