Loading single file to LS9

Is it possible to create a show file on my PC using SM and load that single file to a empty scene on the LS9 without overwriting the existing scenes on the console? It would save me digging the console out to prep for a show.
Thanks,
BJ

Unless there have been MAJOR changes since I sold my LS9, any loading of a scene into the desk overwrites all memories. If you have saved EVERY scene, and are 100% current, you could design a new scene offline, insert it in your scene list and be OK, since you will be essentially replacing data with identical data.

Yamaha has suggested opening 2 instances of SM, one synched to the LS9 and the other not - call it "offline". Drag the new scene you have designed from the offline SM into the "active" SM list & select it from there.

Sort of. You can't load individual scenes from a USB stick. When you save a file to the USB drive, you're writing the full configuration of the console... in/outport patching, libraries, users prefs and permissions and all 300 scenes. But there are work-arounds...

If you have a current configuration on your USB stick, plug it into whatever computer you have running Yammy Studio Manager w the appropriate M7 Editor for your console firmware. Open the file and create a copy with a new name. Open the copy Studio Manager and use it to create your new scene(s). In Studio Manager, use "Save As" to select file type .M7C and save it to your USB stick. If you just chose "Save" it will get a .YSE extension that the console won't open. You can load this into the desk at the show. Oh, back up the current console config first...

If you have your laptop set up to connect to the M7 via Ethernet, you can open 2 instances of the M7 editor (might require 2 instances of Studio Manager, it's been a long time....). In one window, bring up the CONSOLE scene memory; in the other bring up the scene you're creating on the computer. You can drag and drop scenes between the windows. You can do this live, too, with the console passing audio. I think Mike Nicoletti has a step by step post about this in the Archived PSW LAB.

You might do a search, as this has come up before and I vaguely recall there being an additional way to do this.

Have fun, good luck.

One of the properties of an LS9 user is a flag that restricts to loading only the current scene from a USB file. With this restriction enabled, the stored scenes within the console are unaffected by loading a file from USB.

Re: Loading single file to LS9

There's a Copy/Paste feature in the scene memory. The contents of that buffer are NOT overwritten when loading a show file, so you could copy the scene you want to move, load the other show file, and then paste the scene back into a scene number.

Cool, that should do it. I'll test it today.
Thanks for the replies.
