Looking for some ideal to replace Crown IT8000/SRX718 (x4)

I am looking for some Self-Powered subs to replace my JBL SRX718S and Crown IT8000 combo.

What are some suggestions to look at?

My Wishlist:
Pole Mount are needed, M20 preferred.
I would love PowerCon.
Semi Adjustable speaker settings.
Compact Cabs (think single 18" or SRX718 size).

Budget: I really haven't determined it, but I'm keeping my options open and ideally under a $10k package.

Matt ,

Check out the rcf sub 8004as for single 18 application , they are great versatile box, have very nice output and sound quality , nice features to.

I have the big brothers ( sub8006as) and they are fantastic, also one of the bands I work with has the sub8004as boxes , and they sound excellent and have been in service now for a while.

cheers,

Nick -

Is there anything you don't like about your current sound? The SRX818 powered would be a pretty close replacement. The only thing missing is that it uses locking IEC instead of powerCon.

Given the tops in your sig, the obvious choice is the Fulcrum TS215ac. While I haven't heard those specific boxes, if they are like the other Fucrum subs (and Dave's other designs), you won't be disappointed.

Rob, I have rented/demo'd the TS215ac a few times and they are great, but there was something missing in the sound. It was that extra fatness/chunk of the SRX718s.

Brian, other than age there isn't anything wrong with the SRX718's. The SRX818 was on the candidate list.

Try the VRX918SP it should be pretty close your SRX subs. Or as mentioned earlier RCF 8004. I have the 8003 and have heard the 8004. I will admit it goes a little lower although the 8003 did sound pretty good as well.

On this particular point: If they're K&M mounts, you can swap between the 35mm and M20 versions yourself in 2 minutes with a screwdriver. They're completely mechanically compatible/interchangeable.

Yes, the K&M mounts are the same size, but not all companies is K&M as a parts source. Other manufactures aren't compatible (mounting/screw holes) with K&M for a drop in swap.

Also, I already have the M20 speaker poles.

I like the VRX918SP, but I am looking for something a little more modern (something that been out for less than 10 years).

I'll have to see if I can find the RCF 8004; in the past its been a pain to get any sort of RCF Demo.

Just because a product has been on the market for a while doesn't mean it's not a superior product. Newer does not always mean better. A lot of new products contain a lot of bells and whistles that come in handy for marketing, but that you end up never needing or using.

What I was meaning... I would assume that the VRX line is going to be discontinued soon; considering JBL has update everything around the VRX.
