Looking to replace an orginal Beta87

Re: Looking to replace an orginal Beta87

A common failure mode is that these wires break. It is a relatively easy fix to re-solder.

Re: Looking to replace an orginal Beta87

I have 4 original Beta 87’s that I use as my main vocal mic’s. Thankfully they all still work, but I should be thinking about what I’ll be replacing them with. I also have two 87A’s, and I find them somewhat honky in the mids. The original 87’s have a slightly scooped mid, and a slight boost at 4k. I find their tone is exactly what I like in a vocal mic.

The SM86 is my favorite Shure vocal mic (though I have no experience with them on a noisy stage). I've not used the PR35 that seems well liked by most who have tried it. The 535 has excessive proximity effect IIRC.
