LS9 Recall Question

I want to be able to change the input patch on my LS9 between several configurations.

So, I created a Console File with several scenes.
First, I created the configuration I needed to mix an upcoming gig. Saved it to a scene.
Then, I saved it to another scene and named it Analog Inputs, set focus to In Patch, and protected it.
Then I modified the input patch to map inputs from the slots, saved it in a new scene, named it Digital Inputs, set focus to In Patch, and protected it.

So, now the patch is in the Digital Inputs configuration. When I recall the Analog Inputs scene, the patch doesn't change. ????

Suggesitons?

Re: LS9 Recall Question

Geoff, my understanding is that the "Protected" scene can't be over written in the scene memory but a protected scene can be loaded into the active memory. I protected the patch scenes so I would not change them by error.

Partly my mistake. I was confusing the terms "protect" and "safe". I had a quick look through the Studio Manager editor, but I didn't see any reference to "focus". Is that your term, or is it something Yamaha uses?

Another related question...

When I save the console to the USB memory, it almost always makes me type in the file name even if I want to replace one.
On occasion it seems to fill in the name but I can't figure out how to always do it. It is a pain to enter text on the desk.

Most of the time I am loading a console file, checking it over and making a few adjustments, the saving the scene and then wanting to back it up to USB to move back to my PC.

Suggestions?

Re: LS9 Recall Question

Why not just connect your computer to the console and use SM. Sync the console to the PC, then load the console using SM or save the console state in SM. No need for the USB key at all if you were only using it to transfer the files to your PC anyway. Eliminate the extra step.

Good idea but the PC is in my office on the second floor and the mixer is either in the shop, on the trailer, or at the event. At the end of the event I would like to save the console, bring the files to the office and save them on the server for next time. I keep a console file per event/band.

While you have the file on your laptop, send it via email to yourself, or bluetooth to your phone for later placement on the server.

What laptop?? I build the show file in my office, put it on a USB memory and then load the desk in the shop from the USB. I don't run Studio Manager at the show. After the show, I save the current scene (just in case), then dump the console to the USB memory for next time.
