What are some of the benefits of becoming a member of NAMM. Being that the cost of joining is low, what are some of the other costs associated with NAMM membership and attending the annual event? What are some things you don't want to miss if you go? What are some things to avoid if you go? I am wondering about membership in other professional organizations as well. I am a member of ASCAP and that definitely is worth every penny. What about theater and stagehand unions, are they a good investment? My business is still quite small, but I am determined to grow and already I see where I could benefit from aligning with some established players. How do you approach this?

I would first decide what your main business is. NAMM is geared more towards music instrument dealers-INFOCOMM is geared more towards system installers and so forth.

I would contact the specific organizations and see what THEY say they can do for you or what makes it worth joining.

That makes sense. A lot of the musicians I know are hyping it up because they are going to be there performing. There's no reason for me to be there unless I can get some exposure and meet some new potential clients and I can do that here.
