Me and a friend came across the Meyer MSL-10a while looking for something in the Meyer Sound archives and instant laughter occured.

Have anybody here ever used a MSL-10 system? How did it sound/perform?
It's just something really funny about a speaker without handles but with forklift tracks :)

We're familiar with the MSL-3, this looks like several of them bolted together.

Yes. While they don't have much extended high end, they got stupid loud for their day and have a pretty tight pattern. In my experience they were used in arrays of at least 3 30º sections.

May I ask for whom/what would one choose such a "system back in the days"?
I found a link for a system being offered for sale a fey years back that was used for a classical concert in Hyde park.

I guess this was before "line-arrays" we're around.

I know that The Grateful Dead and Dave Matthews Band both toured with MSL-10A rigs from UltraSound.

The MSL-10A came out in '89 or '90 IIRC, which would mean it pre-dates the modern line array by a few years, and by about a decade before Meyer started building line arrays.
