Re: Microphone Suggestion Request Hi Tim. You've hit the nail on the head in terms of what I'm looking for in just about every respect. It's a wedding band. Needs to sound good, but ultimately avoiding feedback and keeping it simple and easy (since I'm doing most of the mixing myself) is paramount. In terms of positioning, we're pretty much set on sticking with 'play across the lip plate into the mic'. The beat boxing things almost doesn't work with any other configuration. The guy also makes quite rapid changes from flute to voice, to sax, to voice. Sometimes with a few beats in between parts. So he basically needs to be able to take the instrument away from his mount and sing. So no mic repositioning. We have already addressed placement on the stage as much as possible. The bass is direct. Guitars are both small 15w combos. The horns are in the back row (beside drums) so all the amps are in front of them, facing forward, and not very loud anyway. No drum monitor (IEMs). We primarily run into feedback from the mains just bouncing around the room. Especially in smaller halls. Budget wise we're fairly wide open. We've got the following mics sitting around... SM58 SM57 Beta58 Sennheiser e835 EV Cardinal We also have in the band's inventory, on use on other stuff, but... Beyer M201 e935 ATM450 MD421 ...and more So there's no point buying something that won't be as good as the stuff we've got. I'd guess he's prepared to spend up to $350 if necessary ($200 new or used ideal). I might check out the C535. Although given the horn sections proximity to the drums, a lot of 8k bleed sounds like... limited fun.
