Midas Mixtender2 - lock ipiad to single mix ?

Re: Midas Mixtender2 - lock ipiad to single mix ?

Andrew...could you be thinking of the Palmix app for the iPhone? It has the ability to lock to a certain bus. It's free all the time:razz:

Good luck.

ha ha... yeah that's the one. it says it also runs on the ipad so i'll try that too. See if you get more than 4 faders on a wide ipad ?

I do wish that midas put the brains in the rack like A&H did. I know pro3+ has the separate brains. Would be nice to run 1 cat 5 cable out front instead of 2+1.

I played with it one day when I was out and set up and had some time. I know it worked but to be honest I don't remember if I got more than four or not. I know the demo mode is set to just four faders. I'll give it a try next week if you like and see what I get.

Thanks.

Re: Midas Mixtender2 - lock ipiad to single mix ?

No go. Being an iphone only app it opens in the ipad with the "emulator" size. I somehow got it to go full screen but it was just a zoomed version. So 4ch is all that's available.

If anyone at MKT is reading, would be great to have an ipad app version WITH more than one screen of faders and being able to swipe across to scroll through. I think the idea to customise each fader's purpose is great.

Here are a few thoughts on that
To to the single mix lockdown you need to get Mixtender 1.
https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/mixtender/id510031617?mt=8

This one has limited features like no channel eq. But possibly good anyway as you don't want your band messing with that. I suspect it has to do with bandwidth of WIFI to control with more then one IPAD at the time.

For the EQ and engineer version you need mixtender 2

But that will only work on its own.

Isn't that what the pop groups do? How many different grouping systems does one need I wonder?

Re: Midas Mixtender2 - lock ipiad to single mix ?

I use the console for both FOH and monitors - i'm a small guy.

So i've got VCA's for FOH purposes. I also split channels so that items going to monitors are not the same channel that's in the vca.

So using palmmix, you can't use MCA's.

I can't see a limitation for 4 faders for palm mix unless it's kinda like if you want more control, get a monitor console too ?

I had thought that multiple mixtender2's would work but only one mixtender ? I need to do some more reading I think.

The other issue with mixtender1 is that you really need to know what channel something is on in order to get to it - or scroll through. M2 is a vast improvement with being able to use pop & vca groups. I do like the palm idea of being able to configure what you want.. just more would be great.
