midas pro1 - how to turn on and up aux without ipad or trackball

I love my pro2c. I think they took all the feedback they got on the larger 3/6/9/x surface and made it better.

And then when they made the pro1.. ummm... well something happened and I don't like it !

I can't find the manual on the website; I used a pro1 a short while ago and will be using one again in 2 days time.

I couldn't figure out then how to turn an auxillary on without using the trackball or ipad. Can it be done just using the knobs and buttons on the surface ?

I know once its on you can hit the mix button and flip to faders to adjust level, but you gotta get it on first.

TIA,

Andrew

Use the up/down arrows (in the set of four navigation arrows - Up/Down/Left/Right), in conjunction with the assignable toggle buttons beneath the eight assignable rotary encoders.

When the 'On' legend (located beneath the lowest aux on the screen) is highlighted on the screen the assignable buttons toggle the Auxes on or off. If you press the enter key after you toggle the aux on or off, you can then use the up/down arrows to cycle through the auxes and toggle them on and off with the buttons that are above the assignable rotary knobs.

If you press the Alt key then press a channel's assignable toggle switch, the aux changes from pre to post, etc.

Easier to do than to explain. It is a bit kludgey but not too bad once you're used to it.

You can't turn on an individual aux-send without the trackball, there are no corresponding buttons on the surface, these are only available on Pro2 and up. The first thing to do on any Midas digital console is create/load a preset for a single channel where every function (HP/EQ/AUX/ST) is turned on. Then copy that to every other channel. The desks are great, but if I wanted to manually turn on every aux on every channel i'd still use a H3000...

My theory on H3K's is that the only people who spec them are those who don't need to move them... had the pleasure of moving one from the truck into the tent and then to FOH position 'cause the truck couldn't fit into the tent... and the ground was grass. Lovely.

Anyway thanks for the confirmation. I've got my own WAP and ipad, will bring that again.

Not sure why you don't want to use the track ball? The only way to make the Pro1 smaller was to eliminate some of the knobs on it's bigger siblings. As I only own a Pro1, I guess I don't know any other way to do it.

A bit time consuming - or do what Jelmer suggested and copy paste.

I would drop the monitor LED's and fader; that would give enough room for a knob, pre/post and on/off switch. That's about the same space that section takes up on a pro2/2c.

Then when you solo/pfl have that signal over-ride the master leds - a practice which happens on many consoles.

Or, enable the buttons above the 8 faders to act as either on/off or pre/post when in flipped mode. Perhaps both with the ALT function. That should be do-able - firmware update could do it.
