I am using a new board for my school's play, the Midas Pro2C and I'm using the automation feature to handle all the mutes for when actors come on and off stage. What I would like to do is set it up so the faders and levels are independent from scenes as the faders reset back whenever I change the scene right now. I'd like to set the levels at the start of the show during sound check for every actor and be able to change that level for the entire show without it resetting every scene. I know it is possible because when we hired a professional sound engineer last year he was able to do it but I can't remember how. Anyone know?

Ok, my suggestion is totally old school. But have you tried to read the manual? Especially start reading at page 174.

Re: Midas Pro2C Automation Faders

If you safe things they won’t change. When doing a musical I safe almost everything but the faders and depending on the console or the control software running it, on some I can make it only recall new faders coming up so I don’t lose my mix each time a snapshot is recalled. I also always safe the trims. We do a mic check (all actors with wireless standing across the stage and we have them sing a group number and then each one, one at a time give me some dialog) before each rehearsal and show and I tweak the trim at that point if I need to. We usually have a lot of characters that are double cast. So it helps to set it for each actor before the show. I also use automixers for the dialog parts but that is another post. And I have posted it before. But if you want more information on that just ask.

Also if you use the snapshots to use the moving faders you can very easily see what mics you need to mix for that scene and if you safe the mutes you can kill a mic if something goes wrong with it or an actor misses an entrance. And you don’t have that mic keep popping on with each new recalled snapshot. You can then un-mute it when all is well again.

Now that's funny. That manual was among the worst written I've encountered. I would suggest talking to Kyle Chirnside at Midas USA.He can explain things and make it simple to understand. He's very patient.

Use SHOW EDITOR its awesome. Simply select the channels you want to change, check box the fader and mute boxes, and then copy the current setting to the scenes you select from the list on the right. Or safe the fader on the channels you want to control. Safeing the fader will allow other changes to happen but will not effect the fader position.
