Hey Guys,
Very new to this, but he's go's a stupid question. I have a mixing board with 8 xlr inputs and 4 stero intputs total 12. (Behringer X2222usb) I have a band with 1 guitar player, drumerer , bass player. So Im using CH. 1 2 3 XLR inputs for vocal mics, CH. 4 input XLR bass amp , CH 5 6 7 8 XLR inputs for drums. thats all the XLR inputs. Now my question is I want to mic up the guitar player cab and all I have left is the 4 stero channels. Can I do it first??? And how??? And the other xlr have compression on them but the stero channels don't. Also is another way I'm not seeing that would suit me better???? Any INPUT on this would help. See picture of board I inclosed on the stero inputs there is a button that says level +4 or - 10 whats should I do with it if I can plug guitar in to the channel?????
Thanks

Re: Mixing board question

If the XLR Bass Amp is a direct out from the amp, you could plug that into one of the line inputs and probably get enough level. Most bass amps have a line out, and not miking the bass cabinet is less of a compromise than not miking the guitar cabinet.

Re: Mixing board question

You could also try taking one mic out of the drum kit... it should be possible to get a decently balanced kit with two or three microphones if they're in the right places.

Thats what I was gonna do with channel 4. Line in from the bass amp. what about micing the guitar to the stero channel like xlr to 1/4 left input will that work????

No it won't! If you are going out from the bassamp, send that to channel 9-10 and use the xlr mic input that you free up to mike the guitar cabinet.

Need all drum mics in place.????

If you are doing Kick, Snare and two overheads, you'll get by just fine with one overhead. In fact sometimes Kick and two overheads works just fine as well.

Re: Mixing board question

you can use a dynamic mic on the stereo inputs using a XLR to 1/4 jack adapter. But there are no gain controls to setup the channel gain. Only the switch from +4 ( high gain input) to -10 dB (low gain input) let you correct the gain level.
Either you go with Per and use, for instance, the bass channel for the guitar or you get some small mic preamp for the additional mic. Or you switch to a bigger mixer.
