Has anyone done a modern day wall of sound? With 5 or 7 smaller lines, each covering the instrument behind it, maybe the center for vox?

Why would anyone do that? Stage monitoring does not require those sorts of shenanigans anymore, it's just a terrible allocation of resources.

Not as monitors as well, but hung downstage. You would need enough trim, among other things.

He was trying to do it like the original, i.e. as monitors as well. His take on it was that the resultant stage wash made the overall sound worse than the moderate increase in imaging was worth. Also, only works in small clubs, where of course the stage wash is the biggest problem. He felt his double PA solution with the Peppers was the best compromise.
