I might add that the room for copious amounts of error in the news media is intentional, and the factory calibration procedure for an industrial grade DMM is also intentional. Heck, the factory calibration procedure can take up to a couple hours, with many different types of measurement approaches! Of course news networks will "self-adjust" throughout the day if they think it will save face.
