I have a broken motu 8pre. I have to give them money and send it in, and they will send me a new one. I have to have something that works NOW so I bought another interface. I'm selling the NEW one I receive from them for $450. I have enjoyed using this as my primary Smaart interface for 6 years but I just don't need two 8 channel interfaces. It's an excellent recording and live preamp with 110dB dynamic range according to testing by wavecapture. It can be used as a stand alone convertor from analog to ADAT Optical as well. It also can accept ADAT optical in. 2 8pres connected together with a single common optical cable gives you 16 channels of mic pre via firware. I also have the audiodesk software. I will also transfer my motu tech support account user and password over. I will include a well used, good working, very expensive Texas instrument based PC Express to FW card if you are using a PC. Macs don't need it, but it really makes a difference on a PC. I switched to Mac so I won't ever need it again. This is a huge upgrade to using those behringer convertors the SAC guys like. Once a sale is made I will rush to send this in for replacement, otherwise it will wait until I get time. If you wish to purchase it broken and send it in yourself, I'll sell it for $325. It costs $100. to replace it with a new one from Motu (plus shipping), but I have every reason to believe it works fine as a convertor now. It simply stopped talking to firewire. I have no way to test it, but for those wanting it as a convertor you may save a lot of money by not having it repaired. It's a small gamble, and there is no loss. These sell new for $599. Once I have it replaced I won't be opening the box, but I will add in the cables I have and the FW card. As I recall this didn't originally come with any FW cables. I carried a main and backup which I'll include.
