Music in the Afterlife

Re: Music in the Afterlife

Ole died.

Lena didn't have a lot of money for the funeral, so their friends came to her aid by paying for various portions of the expenses. Sven asked what he could do to help and she said, "Ole's old suit isn't very nice. I'd like to see him buried in a nice, new suit".

So Sven said, "You yust go down to da store and pick out whatever you vant and I'll pay da bill."

The funeral happened and a week later Sven got a bill from the store for $35. He paid it.

Next month, another bill for $35. Sven shrugged and paid it.

This goes on for 6 months and finally Sven pays Lena a visit and says, "I vas OK to pay for da soot, but I thought it'd be paid up by now."

Lena replied, "You vere so kind to offer to pay for da soot, I yust couldn't stick you wit da price of a new one, so I yust rented".

I'm kinda a cheapskate. I wonder what these are going for used...

This reminds me of a story my brother told. From the 80's. A rancher was checking out coffins in Fargo. The director got to his most expensive model, and the rancher was looking it over, in fact inspecting it like no one else would.
He found a lever, and it dropped out the bottom. The mortuary was selling its highest end coffin(s) for a premium, but dropping the bodies into the grave without the coffin.
And then reselling it over and over.
