OK JV guys and gals here is my annual reminder for the July 4th week gigs. Besides being really loud amplified through the mains, the sound coming from fireworks displays can sometimes send an amp into clipping before it is caught by a limiter if the gain structure allows it. If you must have an open mic during the display for an announcer or singer use the high pass filter and a limiter if they are available. Also a wireless mic is best because it can only get so loud at the board input. Anyone with an analog system and a hot kick drum mic during the display is asking for sub woofer damage. Enjoy the holiday! Eric
