The places that are going to shopping at this end of the market - and perhaps feel that an SI Compact is too expensive - will likely be relying on volunteers or non-specialist staff to mix. If the UI is obtuse or inconsistent, it will be an uphill struggle to get it accepted in the ''mass market''.
