Nation's Sound Engineers Gather To Talk About Their Ponytails

Re: Nation's Sound Engineers Gather To Talk About Their Ponytails

LOL... I left my "pony tail" back in the last century... along with more off the top and sides than I'd prefer. ;)

I dont know...Maybe back in the day but someone should do a poll here. A.Ponytail, B.Short Hair, C.Balding. I bet the balding and ponytail would be a tie with short hair in the lead.

All of my ponytails save one were left here:

There's now enough gray in what's left that I'm no longer of any use to them and I've never liked the "bald on top with a long gray ponytail" look much anyway.

But it should be noted that Karl Winkler wrote in Live Sound International at one time:

"As my good friend Joe Dougherty, now with Clair Bros., used to say, “You can tell how important a gig is by how many fat guys with ponytails are around.”

Re: Nation's Sound Engineers Gather To Talk About Their Ponytails

funny story. before i got into sound, i worked for a newspaper in a job where i wore a suit and went to meetings and stuff. i also had some seriously long hair going on. in my late 20's i decided that i wanted to do something i didn't hate for a living and after much begging and pleading i was given a job with a local sound company. the only caveat was that i needed to cut my hair since they were getting into corporate and wanted to shed the 'long hair roadie' image. no problem.

so i wore my hair short and did a bunch of sound for about 20 years. now here i am in my 'third' career working at a church. a church. and i've grown my hair back out to longer than it ever was before...

and for the record, i've done the locks of love thing a couple of times. so i give too... :)

^^^Freakin' Hippie! It is good that you guys donated your locks. I did that years ago when I cut all mine off.

I would fall into the C category, although I keep my head buzzed all the time.
