[QUOTE="Richard Stringer, post: 55904, member: 166"] Re: Need a louder dj monitor Yeah I did calibrate the meter before Brad, I always calibrate the meter before making any spl measurements. The pink noise wasn't shaped but I ran the pink noise through the system and measured the spl at the point of system clipping. I chose 'C' weighting because it's frequency curve enables me to measure more low frequency spl, wheras the 'A' weighting rolls off higher up. I didn't know I was at the speaker's limits, I just used an amplifier (in this case a bridged QSC RMX1450) that could give more power output than the speaker's continuous average power rating and then used the extra power as headroom. Steve, I've decided to use my MRX515 cabs for now because at the end of this year i'll have enough saved up for a pair of Turbosound TQ445 cabs to replace my current Peavey UL215H mid/highs, and then I can use my UL215H cabs as dj monitors, and I definately know they're loud enough, they're damn loud.
