Hello, I am new to the forum and have looked at it for a day or two before signing up , I am wondering how the feelings were around here about the behringer stuff. I have a lot of their products and I am well satisfied with what i have and just didnt want to go through the bashing's that i have had in previous forums. Thanks

That's what you get for posting on GearSnob.com.........

Seriously, nobody here is going to bash you for sincere posts. That said, this crowd is very, very high on the scale of audio professionals. Top industry pros (myself as an exception.....just your average sound guy). You posted in the proper section, so that's a plus.

Welcome aboard. Hope you find what you're looking for.

Well the monstrous thread on the X32 should give an idea that it gets plenty of discussion around here.

Behringer has a history of problematic products (among other things) but it does appear to be a different story with the X32. It still remains to be seen the reliability of the X32 (and the rest of the series just announced at NAMM).

If you are here to preach that Behringer is the "best eva" I think you will find yourself in the minority.

If you are satisfied with what you have, then great as that is all that really matters. If you are providing a service to clients hopefully they are happy as well.

Welcome and enjoy the visit. :)

Thanks, I was posting in Harmony central. I am just average and nowhere at the top of the line myself. I just need somewhere to go for info maybe on certain things that may come up in my travels as a soundman.

Have you also registered on the Pro Sound Web? A little more contentious as times, but there's a ton of "average sound guy" discussions at all times.

Oh i know that behringer isn't the best in the world. but it does what it needs to do for me. there are things that i dont like about some of their products and somethings i do. I guess it depends on the user in that line. So far my clients are very happy with my work and sound so i guess it's paying off for me to be using. now on the other hand if i was doing national acts and big time concerts and events then yes , i would aim for better ( lots better ) Stuff. But for my clients it seems to be working very successfully. thanks. :)

I usually visit all of them (PSW, SF, HC, Pro Audio Space, Control Booth, etc) at least once a day. I think all of them have their place, just have to know what to take as gospel and/or opinion.

If Behringer fits your business model then power to ya man. It has been great for us as dry-hire and general "beat up and replace" equipment, some of our powered mixers have paid for themselves many times over and are still going strong despite being subjected to a fair bit of abuse.

I used to say that Behringer stayed out of the A and B rigs, now that we own an X32 it's creeping into some of those jobs as well.

Re: New to the forum

I am always suspicious of people who join forums to testify about this product or that. But I am a skeptical old soul, so don't let me bother you too much.

In general if you treat people with respect, you will be treated back in kind with respect.

Did you have an actual question..? Have you been bashed for professing your admiration for Behringer here?

You will find numerous like minded souls in the 200+ page long X-32 thread.

Have a nice day.

I have the SX2442FX mixer and the EP4000, EPX2000 and the EPQ1200 and love them all. the only things that i dont like about the EP4000 is that the limiters are not as good as i hoped for, now the EPX2000 i love that amp the limiters work great on mine. I haven't had the clip light come on not one time with it. The only thing on the SX2442 mixer is that it doesn't have a Lamp other than that it's nothing major.

No, I haven't been bashed here at all, i just joined and thought i would see how the behringer thing was on here. No question in particular , just trying to look for a place that if i have a problem that i can go to and ask a question and get an answer if there is one, without getting bashed for the stuff that i have and really never answering the question. I am a friendly person that loves to talk about the sound business and do learn from time to time if the bashing is not there.

Re: New to the forum

Well let's get the shit out of the way... Behringer sucks. Feel better? ;)

Kidding aside, there are several reasons to not purchase or use their products, mostly involving their legacy business practices, poor rate of product longevity, non-existent support and playing fast and loose with the intellectual property of others. I have a problem with all those things, but they don't keep me from being an interested observer nor did they keep my boss from purchasing some of their products, as he was only interested in the cost of acquisition for some specific uses. Most of those items are either in a pile of broken/dead stuff, have been sold off, or thrown away.

But if price is the primary motivation, you are the sole operator of the equipment and have to justify your purchases only to yourself, then I think you should buy whatever makes sense for YOU. And that's the bottom line, really.

It's not something to get up in your face about, these aren't grave personal failings; you make the decisions necessary for you and your clients, and in fairness to Uli, the company appears to be making a concerted effort to rectify the lousy support and perceived quality issues, beginning with the X32. Time will tell.

Have fun, good luck.

yeah i see what you are saying , and i agree with ya 100%. I would honestly LOVE to buy the best gear out , but for what i do it works for the mean time. when i go to look at something to buy , i just mainly look at it like is this what i am going to need to use or just sit back and never use it. I don't never look at the things that you mentioned because i ain't gonna use any of the advice at the event. lol ;) . yeah, maybe they will get there one of these days, i would say by them buying midas they are giving it a good start if not their best shot at it.
