Hi, my name is brian and recently got rid of my studio mixer I had and knew nothing about and am going to buy a new pa system and need some advice on what to get. I know a couple of people who have bought harbinger ha120 packages and they sound alright but I am wanting to know if the ha60 which is 60watts is enough to power the two 10" speakers it comes with and my custom built speakers which have a 12, 10, 2 midranges and a silk dome tweeter each. I know i haven't given quite enough information but for now thats all I know and want to see what anybody has to say :D~:-D~

Re: newb needs advice

The system is going to sit around 100dBA 90% of the time, with peaks in excess of 128dB. If it can do that at 60W, then yes. Otherwise, no.

The lunchbox type mixer+amp combinations from companies such as Peavey and Yamaha are good value, if you don't need a fully featured channel strip or many channels. For folks unused to larger mixing desks - the limited features are mostly straightforward and intuitive to use.

I've used a few models from both of those companies. They seem very sturdy, and I know a couple well over 10 years old still in regular use, only requiring an occasional squirt of contact cleaner / lubricant by way of maintenance. I'd be happy to buy second hand.

What is your budget, and what features do you need in addition to amplification to drive your speakers?
