Nexo Geo-T or Geo-D?

Hi everyone, I'm looking into large format line array options for my company. I've decided on Nexo as I'm looking at used turn key rigs and I can get the best bang for the buck. My question is which of these models should I go with, Geo-T or Geo-D? I'm looking into getting a minimum of 24 over 12 to start off. I've read great things about both but I'd like as much feedback on them head to head as I can get.

Re: Nexo Geo-T or Geo-D?

So since my question was too stupid to be in the " big boy " forum hopefully someone here can share your experiences with what's listed below.

Geo-T4805 or Geo-D10?
- 24-40+ tops

Geo subs? RS18? CD-18?
- flown subs? Ground stacked clusters? Both?

Camco vortex 6 or NXAMP4X4?
- If camco, how many nx242 processors were used?

Surely someone on this forum has mixed on large Nexo rigs before...

Re: Nexo Geo-T or Geo-D?

A friend in town is a Nexo shop and has S8, S12, and now STM. I believe he has used Geo-T from a partner company. I haven't personally heard either T or D, but like Nexo gear generally. The RS18 subs are impressive (I have heard and played through these), and the built-in cardioid functionality is cool. He has NX4X4 amps, and has had really good luck with them. I would think there would need to be significant price advantage to go with the Camcos.

Standard questions apply - have you spent time in the calculator to get an idea of the different products' coverage and output? FWIW, neither Geo-T or D are "Large-format", at least relative to STM, 4889, K1, etc.

Re: Nexo Geo-T or Geo-D?

Powering Geot with Nexo’s NXAMP 4x4 amplifiers you will get about four to five db more output than going the NX2X4 nxtesion/Camco route.

Yea, not large format compared to most manufacturers but were the Nexo flagship until STM launched. Thanks for your comments man, anything I can get is helpful.

Re: Nexo Geo-T or Geo-D?

Surely anyone looking to buy that many boxes can get a demo in advance.

My money is on Geo-T. I've mixed on anything from 6/side to 20/side, and I've always had favorable results. They've got plenty of get up and go, but you need some sort of LF box in the air with them, as they have absolutely no low end at all. The RS18 sounds nice and has a fair bit more oomph than the CD18. The Nexo amps also make a world of difference too. Geo-D has always just left me cold. Don't know what it is, but I've yet to love one of those rigs.

A little off topic, does anyone have any experience with RCF ttl55a/Ttl33a or Martin w8l longbow/w8lc? Martin was my first choice, followed by RCF, then I bought a small Geo-s8 rig and got to looking at Nexo’s larger options.

The S8 is still one of my favorite "disappearing" vertical arrays. It's small size belies some pretty impressive performance.

A buddy of mine was out as SystemDude on a short tour recently, had the 55/33 rig. He called me for advice and I could offer none, having not set it up or mixed on it; he said he'd call me to say how much he hated it. He never called me.

Anecdotal, 3rd hand. I'm not sure he was impressed but he didn't call me screaming, so I think that's a good sign. He's usually on Meyer or l'Acoustic rigs...

My experience with support from RCF USA has been very good, and any questions they can't answer will go to Italy for a deeper look.

See if you can arrange to hear at least a hang of the 55 by themselves. RCF USA can point you to a system near you, perhaps, and you can pay a visit to a gig and chat with a current owner who's NOT looking to sell his rig...

There's a company here in Texas that has 24 ttl55a over 12 tts56a, I'll try to get with him and listen to his rig. The listed power to weight specs are very impressive.
