Hi all! It looks like the band I engineer for picked up a weekend show in Vail for a Tough Mudder event. We're out of Milwaukee and this particular show is the only one outside our radius where it makes sense to bring our truck/gear. I'm looking for quotes for PA and backline for a 4 piece rock/pop band. In the past, we have used a Turbosound FlexArray (3 per side) for this event and this was overkill. The layout for the band is typically pretty shallow (> 100 feet deep), but pretty wide. As such, I think a 2/side SRX rig with corresponding subs (or similar) would fit the bill nicely. I'm more concerned about horizontal coverage than throwing sound terribly far back.

backline would consist of drums (standard trap kit), marshall combo or head/cabinet and some decent DI's. Three of our members are on in-ears, which we will be bringing. The guitarist still demands a wedge : (

I would prefer a small digital board like a Presonus 16:4 or similar, but will use a agalog if needed. We have the Presonus and it would be nice to just load our preset and mix via iPad. Obviously, this is a rather easy setup. No lights are needed as the performances are all during the day and we scrapped the lights after the first one of these we did.

Event runs from 9 am on 6/16/12 and wraps on 6/17/12 at 5 pm. I will be there to engineer. also, dedicated stage security is provided by the venue.

Please let me know what kind of prices I'm looking at here. rental markets vary greatly from region to region. This would likely be a good gig for a smaller company because the demands are not very much.

Thanks,

Brian

When we go snow skiing at Vail or any of the near by ski areas, it seems like each area is doing one or more outdoor events each week. There are lots of crews and lots of equipment in the area, so why do they need an way out of state crew?

What are you asking? Do you not understand the OP?

A band has been hired to play. They're looking to pick up their gear locally. This is the way the business works.

You're right, I completely mis-read the first post.
Sorry
Enjoy mud season. But they don't have much snow, so maybe they won't have too much mud.

Apparently, all these crews Kevin mentioned don't read these forums. I'm surprised no one is biting. This is a pretty easy gig... decent trap rig, drums/guitar cab, one monitor, 16 channel board, and no lights... how much easier can it get?!? We have a budget here. I can't belive there aren't any small production/weekend warrior guys in this area that don't even want to bid.
