Peavey QW4F or the EV TX2152 ?

Hello all. I'm interested in buying a pair of main speakers for home stereo use that can handle high power, sound good, and have high clean output. Anyone have any experience or knowledge of the two speakers I'm considering? I would be using them full range and powered by either a Crest Audio Pro 8200, or a Crest Audio CC2800. I would use the amp that would best fit the home room requirements and output level I'm looking to reach.
Thank you

Neither of those would be my pick for home use. Look at something that uses smaller drivers and is at least 3 way. PA tops don't handle bass particularly well. Even if the specs say they do.

I have been using 3 JBL LC2 as Right Center and Left Mains for my mains but I keep blowing the tweets and mids. They're a four way speaker with 2-6 1/2" mid bass, 1-4" mid, 1-1" tweet and super tweet for the ultra highs. I have the L and R stereo hooked to a CA Pro 5200 and at the levels I try to reach there is to much audiable strain.

I'm wanting quality of raw output power. For the lows I have 2-larger VMPS Larger subs powered by the CA Pro 8200. The lows are covered well.

I need some speakers that can handle high power that are clean at high output.

Any suggestions.....

Sounds like you are looking for motorhead levels. For clean at those levels without a budget listed, I'd suggest Jbl VP series, Danley sound labs sh46 , or fulcrum acoustics RM15. I'd also add a sub.

The qw4 gets pretty funky when pushed. It sounds nasty before you have to worry about blowing drivers.

If it weren't for the absurd levels you are asking for I'd suggest the personus s8 reference monitors.

What is your budget? That drives a lot. Are you looking for just loud-or loud and good accurate sound? There is a big cost difference.

If you got for high sensitivity- you do not need as much power capacity.

Lol ! Yes, MotorHead.... UFO insane levels ! I'm trying to stay in the 3500.00 to 4000.00 dollar range for 2 speakers. Of course less if possible. I would really like to get 3 speakers to intigrade them into my home theater system as L R and a center, but from the cost of good clean powerful reproduction of music and movies, don't think that's going to happen.

Yes, I want high output that is clean and powerful. I can't do speakers for home anymore for they can't reach the output I want nor last. I understand about high sensitivity requiring less power. I just want professional quality that will deliver high output of clean sound for long periods of time and for them to last me for years.

Oh and the room is a small living room about 20'x25' which is seperated by a half wall that extends into my kitchen and dinning area. Total volume or combined area is approx. 40'x50'. It is a small room in total. Thats why I'm thinking the Peavey or the EV should be plenty....... Dont think I would have to push them very near their max in that small of a room.

Enjoy your hearing while you have it.

In a few years you will posting for hearing aids.

If you're spending $4000 on two speakers for your home theater, don't cheap out on your cabling.

Speaker Cable - single run : Russ Andrews,Hi-fi Accessories,Home Theatre Accessories, cables, mains, speakers, interconnects, speaker cables, mains accessories, turntable accessories, cd accessories...

Don't forget to get a decent mains cord for your system.
The SuperKord range at the above site sound so much better than anything else because they're cryogenically treated.

Whenever I'm down and in need of a lift, the Russ Andrews site never fails to pick me up.
It always puts a smile on my face.
PT Barnum had it summed up correctly.

:D~:-D~

Huh? Whad did due dayyyy........ lol. I heard that JK. I'm hoping by the time I can't hear anymore someone will have figured out direct paths to the brain and the information codes enabling the brain to receive audiable signals directly. Look mom, no ears and no distortion!

This is all funny...until it's not. I have a professional guitarist friend who is in his early fifties that spent a lot of time on loud stages. About 18 months ago he developed tinnitus - in his case kind of a noise allergy - and can't stand to be around even moderately loud music. He can still hear, but he's miserable when on stage. While you're free to do whatever you want to do to yourself, I hope you're not exposing your kids to this - either directly, or by setting a bad example.

Was only joking. I take sound and life seriously. My son is 24 and lives elsewhere. My house is home to three snakes and nothing more that's alive except me. When the music is up at extremes its normally not for long with me in the room. I'm normally throughout the house. The last thing I would want is hearing damage and do watch out for dangerous exposures to extremes and length of volumes....

Sorry to hear about the guitarist.

I found a particular closet in my house that is almost entirely silent at 3AM except for a bit of stuff below 60Hz that tends to leak through. I go in there a few times a week for an hour or so to try and give my ears a break. All I'm hoping is that I don't have any hearing damage already.
