Pelican Backpacks?

Hey all,

Does anyone have experience with the backpacks Pelican makes? Given the varying levels of situational awareness of crew on work sites, I've always been a bit antsy about bringing my laptop on site, but their product seems like a possible good solution.

Re: Pelican Backpacks?

I have the Pelican S100 It fulfills every promise they make about it and has the same high quality manufacturing as their other cases. It is HEAVY for a backpack and can be cumbersome to carry after long periods. The rigid laptop sleeve isn't the most comfortable thing on your back but they do a decent job padding it. It has saved my laptop multiple times during outdoor shows with no safe laptop storage area and pouring rain. I would also take a look at a 1510 with a laptop sleeve or a more compact laptop only brief case from them. The 1510 would give you the option of making a small go bag with it as well. I prefer my 1510 for most my shows. Let me know if you have an specific questions.

Re: Pelican Backpacks?

Guys, thanks for starting this topic. I've been casually looking for a replacement of the Swiss Gear pack I've been using for a long time. Nathan, the S100 looked promising until I found the maximum thickness for a computer was 25mm. I guess these were designed for Macbooks or other slim computers. Then I found the U100 and all was forgiven. :)

I'll post back when mine arrives (Adorama Camera rocks!) and let you all know how it sorts out.
