Pinetop Perkins... RIP

Pinetop Perkins, one of the most active musicians I've ever met passed away yesterday. He was 97 and didn't begin his solo/bandleading career until he was 75.

Man, I love his music. I never got to hear him live though I went to the Homecoming in Clarksdale last fall. RIP

Didn't realize Pinetop Perkins had continued to make music so long. Got to record him with Muddy Waters 10/12/78 at Thumpers nightclub outside Minneapolis, still a highlight among all the old recordings after all these years.

What a great piano player and man!
