Here's the deal guys. I'm doing a bunch of ice hockey games and I'm freezing my little old ass off. Any body have any recommendations for a small cheap heater?

Peace

Re: Portable Heaters

Electric socks and a good hat. Warm feet and head and you don't need much else other than a Thermos of coffee.

Actually the ones I have now are a handmade pair from northern Sweden. I wore out my store-bought ones. They were plain leather and the Swedish ones are moose hide.

The curled toe was of course to slip into the binding of cross country skis, but the design has the added benefit of trapping a lot of air. A very comfortable boot and the fact that they are roomy means that any warm socks you wear do not get crushed by a modern, close fitting style. I've worn mine for 6-8 hours at -30 with minimal activity and my feet stayed quite comfortable.

For the rest of the body: layers, starting with Duofold long-johns.

If you want a plug-in electric heater we've always use these:

Generic name is ''milk house'' heater. Available at most hardware stores.

Re: Portable Heaters

I've had one of these for a number of years(the older version)-small, tip over switch, easy shape to pack.

Not sure if it will put out enough heat for your situation, most small space heaters max out at about the same point-based on a regular house circuit limit.

You might want to try a heating pad on the seat, along with Dick's recommendation on warm boots. The hat and scarf are necessary recommendations too-I like one of these a lot:

One of the absolute best and cheap solutions for warm feet:

Styrofoam meat/vegetable trays.

Simply trace your feet onto the material then cut to size. Great insulation for the sole of the foot, thin (so it won't crush wool socks) and will not absorb/hold moisture so it won't funk up your footwear. If you don't have trays big enough for a single piece, simply duct tape a couple sections together. Costs next to nothing and works amazingly well.

This from my good old days of living with absolutely no money.
