Portable speaker recommendation?

Alright, trying to narrow down my options here. I want to choose 3, maybe 4 active speakers to demo. Audience size maxes out at about 250 but I'd prefer something that can do a little more than that for future growth. Weight is not much of an issue, as long as it can sit on a speaker stand. Target dB level is about 90-96dBA slow, in rooms less than 2000 square feet. Big focus on mid-range clarity. These will be used with a sub so they don't need a lot of low frequency extension, and vocal/electronic piano clarity is far more important than cymbal shimmer, so super high frequency extension isn't a need either. Looking for powered cabs. Budget is $1500 per cabinet max. If you have other suggestions feel free to make them, just remember the whole point is to have a (very) short list.

Here's my list so far:
Yamaha DXR112
Yamaha DXR115
Yamaha DSR112
Yamaha DSR115
QSC K12
QSC KW122
QSC KW152
Electro-Voice ETX12P
Electro-Voice ETX15P
RCF HD32A
dB Tech FLEXSYS F12
dB Tech FLEXSYS F15
Renkus-Heinz CF121-5
Renkus-Heinz CF151-5
Turbosound Milan M12
Turbosound Milan M15

Thanks!

Re: Portable speaker recommendation?

I recently listened to most of the speakers on your list. I did not hear the RH or the Turbosound. I thought the RCF sounded the best of what I heard.

Re: Portable speaker recommendation?

As these will be used with a sub, I'd start by crossing all the 15" 2-way boxes off the list.

I kind of thought that might be the case.

Shorter already!

Alright.. I think all those speakers will give you about the same results but each ones has some differences/functionality.

The biggest thing looking at self-powered speakers, what will you be needing the speaker to do? For example the RCF HD & Renkus-Heinz CF121-5 have only a single input, where as the QSC K12 & Yamaha DXR112 have multiple input options. Or you could go a little further and look at the Electro-Voice ETX12P with its built in DSP which has 3 PEQ filters.

These will only ever see line level XLR inputs. 1 input is enough. On board EQ controls are not necessary.
