I plan on taking delivery of a Midas Pro1 next week. Would this unit be sufficient as UPS for FOH FurmanSound.com - Pro A/V Product - F1000-UPS
"As with any battery back up system, the battery pack must be replaced periodically (typically every 2 years)"
That short on battery life?
That Furman is beautiful & would fit nicely in a 6 space rack with two s-16's, but $750.00 & 35 pounds?

There are two things making it expensive:
1) Double conversion UPS means no relay switching and much better power management. You want this.
2) SurgeX's surge protection technology actually works, doesn't fail without warning after an unknowable period of time and become a fire hazard, and won't dump surges into peripherally connected equipment. You definitely want this.
Frankly I was expecting it to be more expensive than it is. I think I paid almost $300 for a generic APC unit for my home back before Sandy.
I definitely agree on the double conversion but doesn't Furman supposedly use different technology now instead of MOVs in everything but their ultra cheap models?
My understanding is it still relies on MOVs, but I haven't seen inside this particular unit.
