For big-band use. Need something smaller than the EV ZxA1, but better than the VSM200XT (which has the perfect form factor). (Tried a little dual woofer Meyer a few years ago, and it wasn't much better than the VSM200XT.) (If L'Acoustic had one small enough we'd go that way.) (Must be powered, as we don't want to rebuild the looms and add an amp rack.)

Re: Powered Mini Stage Monitor?

Hello

I have 7 VSM200XT - I know that they are not HiFi - but as I often like to tweak things, I´d like to know WHAT should be better to suit your needs - perhaps I ould run some experiments with mine and share results.

Re: Powered Mini Stage Monitor?

Hi Tim,

I have three VSM300Xts, and easy access to five more.
They are often used on shorty mic stands. Love the little cone adapter setup.
I agree on the form factor, though even better might be a 'football goal post' style yoke.
VSM series audio quality is only acceptable at quite modest levels, and I too would be happy to find something better.

The Tannoy VXXP6 is likely a good choice.

The RCF TT051-A might be worth considering, but a coax box seems to make sense to me for the size and use.

The little JBL formerly Duran boxes look good, though what is up with the 2.5ms latency? My 2003 Yamaha 01V96 has latency numbers of about .7 or 1.3ms, depending on frequency settings.

Thanks and good health, Weogo

Re: Powered Mini Stage Monitor?

I know, this is the Uber Pro pages but I have heard B207MP3's sounding real nice and real loud. Just go easy on me for suggesting them.

And the TC-Helicon VoiceSolo FX150. Just a thought. I'll go back to JV now.

Re: Powered Mini Stage Monitor?

Lost two (of twelve) of the TCs on a show (no power, fuse intact), and two other misbehaved but later healed themselves.

The JBL is a little big. The Tannoy is very interesting - I forgot to look at those (in spite of my boss having a little pair of Tannoy mini studio boxes in his office - duh). Someone elsewhere turned me on to an L'Acoustics powered that I'd missed, though it's a little big.

2.5ms is quite a lot, but in practice it's less than 1 meter distance added. Maybe some processing, look ahead limiters? I don't know. Could also be some maximum figure...
For in-ear it could be a huge problem, but for monitor loudspeakers not that big of a problem.
