This is the power feed to one stage at three day, three stage festival. This picture is on the end of about 150 foot run of 12x2 romex. This stage had full bands with instrument amps, and some what of a main and monitor system. A friend of mine took the pic for me. Last year I was there after the festival was over and I noticed an even scarier set up at another stage. Same thing 125 to 150 feet of 12x2 romex only with a quad box in line to a single gang box, the quad box plate was about to fall off and the single gang had no plate, random knock out holes were open on each box. Each of those boxes were fed off of one side of a 50 amp 220 breaker. At the end of the 125 plus feet of 12X2 it was wired into a 50 range plug, plugged into the plug in an outdoor power pedestal with a 50 breaker on plug.
The festival is not my gig and with power like that never will be.

There are at least 3 code violations in that picture. I'd hate to see what else is going on upstream where that thing is tied in.

Maybe passing on some knowledge and explaining proper power distribution could land you the gig? Just because it's unsafe now, doesn't mean that it has to stay that way! Make the world a safer and better sounding place--and make some money at the same time.

I actually did talk to them about 6 years ago (I had no idea at that time about the power) unfortunately they did not like what a real world price was to do three stages for three days was even being for local acts and performers. Had the talks advanced to the next stage of a site survey things would have gotten interesting.

From the looks of the cable and boxes I would say they have been reused for many years.

Of the three stages one is put up next to a legit outdoor power receptacle panel.
