My 2406 has a problem with the gain. last night on a gig, I had to turn-up the gain past my usual setting to get any sound. Normal setting is at about 12:00 noon Last night I had to push the gain to 3:00 for the same volume level. Why?

Unless you made a change to some other setting on the amp, say a DIP switch somewhere the problem is not the amp. It's pretty hard for an amp to change it's gain without some other more noticeable problem such as distortion. Much more likely that you were not feeding the same level to the amp that you normally do.

Any chance pin 2 or 3 is out on the XLR ? That'll drop your level.
Chris.

Not sure exactly which model amp you are using, as 2406 isn't a QSC model that I'm aware of.

First guess though, if you had a gain drop and nothing else changed, is that you lost a pin on the input. Losing pin 2 or pin 3 on the XLR (or the tip or the ring on the 1/4" jack) will result in a loss of signal level.

If all of the cables test out, then check the dip switches on the amp. (if it is a model with dip switches.) Pay attention to the parallel and bridge mono input switches. Notice that there are 2 switches that need to me moved together to change between each of those functions. Move only one and it only changes one of the 2 pins. You'll get some strange results if they are not moved in pairs.
