I just redid the caps on my Touchmix 16 (left output was almost nothing). Everything is full up and working fine! I checked all the caps on the board and I’m not exactly sure what they were when QSC put them in there to begin with but all the 47 µF caps on the board (there are a total of 74 in the audio paths) and they all read between 43.7 and 44.3 µF. There are also the 16 gain caps for the preamps (these are the big ones that are about 3/8 inch diameter right near the gain pots. These are 1000 µF at 10V and these were all reading between 958 and 962 µF. If per chance you are losing gain on the lows, check those 1000µF caps. The serial number on this TM16 is later than the range defined, but the board was mis-marked and the output caps were installed exactly according to the legend on the board but incorrectly according to good electronic design standards. Basically it took me about an hour and a half stem to stern to get the repair done. I’d still like to get prints at least of the analog section of the mixer… I could probably figure it all out being that no one has really done anything truly spectacular on tone circuits and preamp circuits in the last 10 to 15 years. I could care less about the digital because at that point if something in the digital goes down it’s not worth the fix.
