QU-16 Ipad Setup

I have a QU-16 running the new firmware (V 1.73) and I'm having trouble connecting to my wifi router for iPad control. I am using a brand new Apple Airport Express router for wifi. I have everything set, and the app recognizes the mixer, but says it is unable to connect to the mixer. Is anyone else having similar issues? I referenced the manual which was useless for troubleshooting this issue, so I was curious if anyone could help me out. The iPad isn't necessary for me to mix shows, but I have something coming up where the iPad control would help. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Re: QU-16 Ipad Setup

Scott, do you have another router you can try?
I have both a Qu-16 and Qu-32, and have never been able to get my Airport Express to work with them.
I have Linksys, D-Link, and now a TP-Link router and they all work fine. The TP-Link is dual band and is my go-to now.

Re: QU-16 Ipad Setup

You've told the iPad to use the Airport Express as your wifi I assume?

Is DHCP enabled on the mixer?

Sounds dumb, but are the correct jacks for the network cable being used? Yes, I plugged into the wrong jack on the router the first time...don't use the WAN connection.

Best regards,

John

I have a relatively new Qu-Pac. One time I stuck the network cable from to the access point into the digital snake jack instead of the network jack. When nothing worked I panicked and started to change network settings (like the guy who dismantles the fuel injection on his car when the real problem is that it's out of gas). I got it sorted by showtime -- barely.

Last weekend I took the Qu-Pac out to mix a band and do assorted combat audio. All I had used it for up to that time was talking heads and playback. It went pretty well and I'm looking forward to using it a lot more. Being able to stand on stage holding the iPad and work out the monitors with the band while you're hearing the same thing they're hearing is wonderful.

Battery endurance on the iPad is an issue. I'm thinking of a USB-out battery pack and a wireless audio link back to the mixer for playback to round out the wireless front-of-house.

Frank...

I purchased an iPad cover which has a magnetic strip in it which, when closed, places the pad in temporary sleep status, thus extending battery life. Most times the app resumes upon opening the cover. Otherwise the re-connect takes a second or two.

It works for me and I can get through an 8 hour day with no problem. Still, it would he great to have some kind of charging dock at the board.

Thanks, Dick, that's a great suggestion. I believe there's also a timeout you can set that causes sleep after a defined period of inactivity. I just haven't been brave enough to try it yet.

I assume a good bit of power is going to display illumination, at least when out in full sun as I was on the weekend.
It would be cool if they could cut that only, after a timeout, so that recovery would be certain and instantaneous.

Same type cover here.. I can get 3-4 shows out of a full battery

Re: QU-16 Ipad Setup

In addition, I now carry one of those rechargeable USB battery packs. My iPad is a gen 3 and the battery isn't quite as good as it needs to be sometimes. With the battery pack, I can charge the iPad and still keep the rig portable. Actually have not had to use it that way, but I no longer worry about low battery when mixing. I got a Life Charge 10,400mAh, and it has both 1 amp and 2 amp USB ports. Size is about 3x2x.75" And a flashlight! WooHoo!. It was like 30 bucks or so on Woot.

I got one of those recharging things thinking the same thing, haven't needed it either.
