I've got a question about the input panel on a jbl SR4731A. I'm going to start bi-amping them, but I won't have my 4-wire speakon cables made until next week. What I am wondering (called jbl and they didn't know) and I couldn't tell by looking at the pdf on the input panel is whether I can use both the speakon 1+, 1- input (for the mids) using my current jumper from my subs and use the 1/4" high jacks at the same time (after setting the cab to bi-amp mode).

Hope I'm being clear enough,

Anyone here know for sure?

Thanks,

Try it and find out. In your garage, rehearsal space, even your living room.

The important question is if the 1/4" HF jacks are "switching." Do they disconnect the HF from the internal crossover?

"Do they disconnect the HF from the internal crossover?"

You know, I think they don't. I have a pair of those speakers and I think that even in the bi-amp mode the passive crossover serves as back-up protection. Lately I have been using them in the passive mode as a front fill speaker. I've never had the need to use them in the way mentioned so I don't really know, but as Tim said, give it a try.

I found a schematic on jblproservice.com... http://www.jblproservice.com/pdf/SR-Series/SR4731A.pdf It needs some cleanup to be legible but it looks like at least one jack is a switcher.
