Re: Questions for 01V power users (hi Brian) You'd be hard pressed to get a better bang for the buck than the DEQ830. Takes care of your D/A conversion AND your desire for graphics on your outputs. I'm not a big fan of the 1/4" connectors, but that's not a deal breaker. As to the ADAT connector being robust enough... Well, i'm not a huge fan of them, but they are workable so long as you use good quality cables that fit snugly. ideally though, you'd package this in such a way that you could connect the ADAT output to your DEQ830 and not have to plug and unplug it every gig. i'm think some sort of rack mount thing with the DEQ mounted above the mixer, or some such. The ADAT connection Should Be sufficient for word clock, although it doesn't hurt to run BNC as well as that's obviously more robust. If you do decide to go with something other than the DEQ830, don't be afraid of the ADA8k for a D/A converter. the chipset is pretty much the same one everyone else uses. Mine have worked just fine for me. I'm not a huge fan of the Mic Pres on them, but the newer ADA8200 might sort some of that out. and you never know when you might need an extra input or two. One other note to keep in mind. To get 8 outs from one ADAT plug, you're gonna be running at 48K. i frankly think it makes not one whit of difference, but it's worth noting nonetheless. oh, and if the subject line is referencing me... I have an overwhelming urge to channel my inner Sally Field.... :)
