Quick question re sub coupling for small outdoor shows

Hi all,
I'm doing a bunch of small outdoor shows where the stage is elevated approx 1m above the grass via a stone wall. Late afternoon/early evening, local bands, duos, trios - family orientated audience. Doesnt need to be loud, but consistent low frequency coverage would be nice.

The system is small but capable. Two subs - active 15" front loaded reflex. Normally I'd couple the subs side by side in the center on the grass up against the stage lip/wall.

Semi-randomly wandering the interwebs last night, I came across a thread in the Bill Fitzmaurice forum which relates to coupling horn-based subs.

I'm wondering if this coupling method for horn based subs:

might also work for reflex port coupling, bearing in mind I'm placing more importance on even coverage instead of maximum SPL. I'm already getting a coupling boost from the wall, but it would be nice to derive a bit more if possible by modifying the speaker coupling arrangement.

Thanks,

Sean

Try it, but I doubt it will make much difference.

BFM recommends such practice as a result of designing subs with too small a mouth area to get maximum performance.

Sean,

Being up against the wall maximizes the boundary, angling the BR speakers away from the wall will reduce the coupling.
If the stage was walls on either side, you may get more gain the subs located there, bigger "barn doors" work better.

Thanks for the replies - I'll stick with my original coupling + abutting the stage wall.
