The leaking neutrons damage the crystal structure of the plasma vessel, and can also render it somewhat radioactive.The only fusion technology with low enough neutron flux to even start to make sense is based on boron and is little more than sketches on blackboards. Even if you solve the problem of neutrons all the heat handling concerns remain.Fusion makes the energy from fission look tame, and its not going to be even on the table in any form in our lifetimes.My professional materials scientist opinion.
