Re: Recording Studio Gear Replacement (Behringer X32) I also have a Project Mix. Still working just fine with PT11. I've thought about the dual purpose use of a digital mixer in the project studio although patching it in and out sounds like more trouble than it may be worth. Currently I have all the mic and line inputs connected to a patch panel that is also hooked to all my outboard and a snake across the room where the drumset is. That's 16 connectors (plus 4 outputs) to pull and put back each time I want to use the board. The only real reason would be to get more physical faders for mixing instead of paging back and forth across the 8. Or have better pres. The M-Audio pres are clean and fine. I have some GAP73s and others along with various outboard for color. I would expect a good modern digital mixer to have pres that are better than the M-Audio but Neve and API clones are so easy to come by these days that I wouldn't do the switch for pres alone. Maybe something with better scribble strips. Plus, it's nice having dedicated transport buttons. While you could map things from a digital board, there's something about the standard arrows and a jog wheel that just takes less thought and is more intuitive.
